Blind Flange

A blind flange, which is also called a "closure plate flange," is used to close off a pipe at the end of a pipe system. It doesn't have a center hole (bore), so water can't flow through it. A pipe, valve, or pressure vessel can be shut off with the help of a blind flange. This type of flange comes in all sizes and classes, and the joint face can be flat, raised, or shaped like a ring.

A blind flange can be used instead of a butt weld cap if the pipe line needs to be extended or if a pipe inspection is needed (remove the blind flange to access the pipe interior). This kind of flange can also be used as the place where drain rods can go in and out. Depending on the use, a blind flange can be drilled and used as a slip-on flange or tapped and used as a threaded flange. Even though this type of flange has a simple design, it is not cheap.
