Nickel Alloy

Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 are commercially pure nickel grades containing at least 99% nickel by weight. The remaining one percent or less consists of minor concentrations of iron, silver, manganese, copper, carbon, and sulfur.


As low-alloy materials, they offer advantages in some industrial uses over other materials. According to the Nickel Institute, nickel is "effectively and widely recycled" due to its high value, and nickel materials help to make "existing goods and processes more energy-efficient, durable, and robust." This indicates that it is utilized more sustainably than other metals and metal alloys and is managed responsibly throughout its entire existence.

What is Inconel Alloy used for?

Nickel 200/201 combines good mechanical properties with excellent resistance to many corrosive environments. Nickel 201, the lower carbon chemistry, is preferred for service in temperatures above 600°F (315°. C). Nickel 200 and 201 offer outstanding corrosion resistance to caustic soda and other alkalis.

Nickel 200 vs. Nickel 201

The fundamental difference between the two Grades is the composition's carbon content. Nickel 201 is a low-carbon variant of Nickel 200; it includes a maximum of 0.02% carbon, as opposed to Nickel 200's maximum of 0.150% carbon. As a result, they are frequently employed for slightly different objectives.
