Incoloy alloys are mostly chromium-based and mostly nickel-based, and designed for corrosion resistance as well as strength at high temperatures.
Incoloy alloys are a type of super austenitic stainless steel. One advantage of Incoloy alloys is that they do not need to be heat treated after welding to restore corrosion resistance. There are specific alloys for resistance to particular chemical attacks.
Pollution control, oil and gas recovery, acid production, pickling operations, nuclear fuel reprocessing, and radioactive waste disposal all use Inconel alloys. This nickel alloy is useful for more than just its corrosion resistance.

Although Inconel and Incoloy belong to the same family of superalloys, each has unique features in addition to those they share. Superalloys, also known as high-performance alloys, offer superior resistance to corrosion and oxidation, as well as superior mechanical strength at extreme temperatures.
Composition represents the most basic distinction between them. Inconel®, an alloy composed mostly of nickel-chromium, often contains more than 50 percent nickel, whereas Incoloyl®, a nickel-iron-chromium alloy, contains less than 50 percent nickel.
The primary distinctions between the two are their respective applications and scopes of applicability.
