Long Radius Returns

Long-radius (L/R) 180° returns made according to ASME B16.9 can change the flow of fluid to go in the same direction but in the opposite direction. It looks like half of a circle was cut out. The L/R return is also known as the "180° L/R bend."

A return bend is a pipe fitting that lets a pipe change direction by 180 degrees. Return bends have a U shape and could be thought of as two L-bends that are joined together. This type of fitting can be molded, cast, or made by heating and bending an existing pipe. Long Radius 180°Return Bends that meet ASME B16.9 and ASTM A234 WPB are shown here.
