Super Duplex Flanges

what is super duplex flange?

Super Duplex Flanges are high-performance flanges made from a type of duplex stainless steel called "super duplex" that offers superior strength, corrosion resistance, and durability compared to conventional stainless steel flanges. Super duplex stainless steel is a combination of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel, with a higher content of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen than standard duplex stainless steel.

Super Duplex stainless steel is a type of stainless steel alloy that has a higher strength and corrosion resistance compared to standard duplex stainless steel. It is composed of a combination of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, with a high chromium and molybdenum content.

Composition of Super Duplex stainless steel

The most common composition of Super Duplex stainless steel is UNS S32750, also known as 2507. Its chemical composition is typically as follows:

Difference between about UNS S32750 and UNS S32760

UNS S32750 and UNS S32760 are both types of Super Duplex stainless steel, but they have some differences in their chemical composition and properties.

UNS S32750, also known as 2507, is a common grade of Super Duplex stainless steel. Its chemical composition typically includes 24-26% chromium, 6-8% nickel, 3-5% molybdenum, and 0.24-0.32% nitrogen, along with smaller amounts of other elements. This composition provides good resistance to corrosion and pitting, high strength, and good weldability.

UNS S32760, also known as Zeron 100, is a higher alloyed Super Duplex stainless steel, which means it contains more elements than UNS S32750. Its chemical composition typically includes 24-26% chromium, 6-8% nickel, 3-4% molybdenum, 0.5-1% copper, and 0.2-0.3% nitrogen, along with smaller amounts of other elements. This composition provides even higher resistance to corrosion and pitting, along with improved resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

In terms of their properties, UNS S32760 generally has better corrosion resistance than UNS S32750, especially in highly corrosive environments such as seawater and acidic environments. UNS S32760 also has better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, and can withstand higher temperatures and stresses.

Overall, both UNS S32750 and UNS S32760 are excellent choices for applications where high strength and corrosion resistance are required. The choice between the two depends on the specific application requirements, with UNS S32760 being preferred for applications with more severe corrosive environments.
