ASME B31.1-2020 Power Piping ASME Code for Pressure Piping, B31

ASME B31.1-2020 Power Piping Code is one of several Sections of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code for Pressure Piping, B31. This Section is published as a separate document for convenience. Standards and specifications specifically incorporated by reference into this Code are shown in Table 126.1-1. It is not considered practical to refer to a dated edition of each of the standards and specifications in this Code. Instead, the dated edition references are included in Mandatory Appendix F.

These design conditions define the pressures, temperatures, and various forces applicable to the design of power piping systems. Power piping systems shall be designed for the most severe condition of coincident pressure, temperature, and loading, except as herein stated. The most severe condition shall be that which results in the greatest required pipe wall thickness and the highest component rating.
